Which Poster Size Is Right for Your Space? A Simple Guide

You've found the perfect print. The colours are right, the mood is right, it's absolutely going on your wall. But then comes the question that trips up so many people: what size should I get?

We get it — it's hard to visualise dimensions from a screen. But choosing the right poster size doesn't have to be stressful. Once you understand the basics, it actually becomes pretty intuitive. Let's break it down.

Why Size Matters More Than You Think

A print that's too small for a wall looks lost and a bit sad. A print that's too large can overwhelm a space. Getting the size right is what makes wall art look like it was always meant to be there — like it's part of the room rather than just stuck on a wall.

The good news? There's no single "right" size. It depends on your wall, your furniture, and the look you're going for. Let's look at the most popular options.

21×30 cm (A4) — The Subtle Touch

This is the smallest size we offer, and it's perfect for adding delicate details to a space. Think of it as the accessory of wall art — it won't dominate, but it adds a lovely finishing touch.

Best for: shelves, small gallery walls, bathrooms, desks, narrow hallways, or as part of a larger arrangement where you need a smaller print to balance things out.

30×40 cm — The Versatile Classic

This is one of our most popular sizes, and for good reason. It's big enough to make an impression but compact enough to fit almost anywhere. If you're starting your poster collection, this is a great place to begin.

Best for: bedrooms, above nightstands, gallery walls, kitchens, home offices, and anywhere you want art without overwhelming the space.

50×70 cm — The Sweet Spot

This is where things start to feel like a real statement. A 50×70 cm print has presence — it fills a wall beautifully without being too imposing. For many people, this is the go-to size for living rooms and bedrooms.

Best for: above the sofa (either alone or as part of a duo), bedroom walls, dining areas, and hallways. It also works brilliantly as the anchor piece in a gallery wall.

70×100 cm — The Show-Stopper

If you want your print to be the first thing people notice when they walk into a room, this is your size. It's bold, it's confident, and it turns any wall into a feature.

Best for: large living room walls, above the bed as a headboard alternative, spacious hallways, and rooms where you want one piece to do all the talking.

How to Match the Size to Your Wall

Here's a simple rule of thumb that interior stylists use: your wall art should cover about two-thirds to three-quarters of the width of the furniture below it. So if your sofa is 200 cm wide, aim for art that spans roughly 130–150 cm in total width.

For a single print, that might mean going for a 70×100 cm. For a gallery wall, it means planning your arrangement to fill that space comfortably.

And don't forget about height. The centre of your art should sit at about eye level — roughly 150 cm from the floor. If it's above a sofa, leave about 15–20 cm between the top of the sofa and the bottom of the frame.

Pro Tip: Measure Before You Fall in Love

We know, we know — it's hard to be practical when you've just spotted the most beautiful print. But taking 30 seconds to measure your wall (or even just holding up a piece of paper in the right dimensions) can save you from that "oh, it's smaller than I expected" moment.

If you don't have a tape measure handy, here's a cheat: an A4 sheet of paper is 21×30 cm. Hold it up against your wall to get a feel for that size, then imagine scaling up from there.

When in Doubt, Go Bigger

If you're torn between two sizes, we'd almost always say: go for the larger one. A bigger print feels more intentional and more impactful. It's one of those things where people rarely regret going bigger, but often wish they had.

Of course, it depends on the space. But as a general rule, slightly too big always looks better than slightly too small.

Still Not Sure?

That's completely fine. Choosing the right size gets easier with experience, and there's really no way to get it "wrong." If a print makes you happy and your wall needed something — that's already a win.
